Polarities

“Polarities” is Olaf Taranczewski’s new solo album – and his first since the trio records “When I Was” and “LOM.” But “solo” is a flexible term here: the piano stands in the middle of a carefully built electronic setup. The mechanical warmth of a felt-dampened piano meets deep Moog basses, while Fender Rhodes chords shimmer through clouds of delay. The album lives on the tension between acoustic fragility and electronic foundation, between improvisation and production. Taranczewski composed, produced, and mixed it on his own in his Berlin studio.

His harmonic language reveals the jazz pianist – complex, searching, refined – yet the sound design reveals the modern producer.

“Polarities” was released on April 24, 2026 and is available on all major platforms and as a hi-res download.
