Satirischer Jahresrückblick

Produced by the creators of the political satire segment Toll! from the magazine Frontal 21, this annual ZDF highlight has been a German television institution since 2004. Known for its sharp wit and clever montages, the show has earned six Grimme Prize nominations for its unique blend of political commentary and absurd humor.

Since 2012, I have been a regular contributor to the show’s musical segments, appearing both on-screen and behind the scenes. Whether composing original satirical songs or performing as a musician, I collaborate closely with authors Werner Doyé and Andreas Wiemers to provide songs for their distinctive take on the year’s events.

In 2025, an injury unfortunately prevented me from appearing on-screen. However, I still contributed to the show by producing the music, playing the Fender Rhodes, and recording this version of Bill Withers’ “Use Me” alongside bassist David Hagen. The track features “vocals” by various German politicians, whose speeches were creatively edited to fit the lyrics. Watch the video here:
